Zora (Zoie) Louise Luce Cox, originally of Johnsonburg, NY and longtime resident of Wyoming, NY, passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Wyoming County Community Hospital. Zora was born September 29, 1927 to the late Vern C. and Dorothy Gerhardt Luce. Zoie was a graduate of Attica High School and went on to earn her B.A. at SUNY Brockport. She worked as a teacher at Wyoming Central School, substitute taught at many local schools, counselor at Arc of Livingston-Wyoming, and director of Literacy West. Zoie was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Wyoming and attended the East Bethany Presbyterian Church in East Bethany. She was a 4-H leader, Sunday School teacher, tutor and volunteered for many organizations including the Red Cross, Cancer Society, The Cloisters, and Wyoming Library. Zoie loved working with children, especially when she could help them learn to read or encourage an interest in music. She loved playing piano and could turn any song into a Ragtime tune. Most recently she enjoyed exercising with friends at the YMCA, taking friends on adventures to favorite restaurants and seasonal festivals, and visiting with family.

Zoie is preceded by her husband, Russell P. Cox, brother, Frederick Luce, and sister, Margaret Luce Chamberlain. Niece, Lucinda Parker, and nephews, Gary and Roger Wallace.

Survivors include daughters; Ellen Cox and Susan Cox (Peter Goodrich), sons; Leon Cox, Leslie (Elaine) Cox, and Neal (Holly) Cox. Her brother Ray Luce, and sisters, Hazel Parker and Norma Luce.

She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; Chloe Drew (Phillip Belanger), Rae Breaux (Farhad Ebrahimi), Phoebe Cox, (Jeff Carlton) Julia Cox, Hillary Cox, Maxwell Breaux (Gwendolyn Jenkins), Benjamin Goodrich (Mackenzie Gebben), Samuel (Danielle) Cox, Evan Cox (Zoe Finn), Camron Cox and Grant Cox. Eleven great grandchildren; Noah, Owen and Koda Cox, Trevor Ross, Jackson Belanger, Julien, Zephryn and Marie-Louise Breaux, Neema Breaux, Madden Goodrich and Fletcher Gebben. She was a favored aunt of many nieces and nephews, some who are named for her, much to her puzzlement.

Friends may call on Zora L Cox on September 10, 6:00-8:00 PM and September 11, 11:00 AM-1:00 PM at the Weeks Funeral Home, 123 N. Main Street Warsaw, NY. Funeral services conducted by Pastor John Goehle, of East Bethany Presbyterian Church, will follow the calling on September 11. A celebration of life will be held at the Cox homestead after the funeral.
