William E. "Bill" Follendorf, age 94, of Warsaw, New York passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 29th 2024, surrounded by his loving family, at Brothers of Mercy Nursing Home in Clarence. Bill was born in North Tonawanda, October 9, 1930, a son of the late Walter and Marion (Waldron) Follendorf. He began working at the age of 13 at Fischer's Pharmacy located in North Tonawanda as delivery and stock boy. Bill never gave up his love for Pharmacy and graduated from the University of Buffalo in 1952 with a B.S. in Pharmacy. After graduating, Bill enlisted and served honorably in the United States Army and achieved the rank of Lieutenant. He was a commanding officer of the medical detachment at Kilmer, New Jersey and Fort Dix during the Korean War Era. After completing his military duty, Bill joined Peterson Drug (1958-1961), and later bought the pharmacy changing the name to Wyoming Rexall Drug. He also owned a pharmacy in Attica, New York from 197-1988.
Bill retired after selling his pharmacy in 2022. In the 60 years that Wyoming Rexall Drug was open, Bill was committed to the community and his customers. During his younger years he enjoyed flying planes up at the Perry-Warsaw Airport. He was also an avid sailor and spent most of his free time on his boat down at his cottage in Sodus Bay, New York with his family. Bill was predeceased by his wife, June (Gage) Follendorf, his lifetime friend, Catherine H. Jenkins, his son, Erik (Sharon Davey) Follendorf, a daughter, J. Gage (Mark) Moran, grandchildren, Kelsey and Kyle Follendorf, and Anna and Nicholas Moran.
Friends of Bill may call on January 14, 2025 at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main Street Warsaw, NY 14569 from 3pm to 5pm at which time a Celebration of Bill's life will be conducted by a longtime friend and fellow Pharmacist, Daniel Burling. Burial will follow on Wednesday, January 15th at the Western New York National Cemetery with full military honors.
