William W. Cortright Jr., age 65, of Kingsley Rd. passed away Thursday, March 24th, 2016 after a brief illness at the Unity Hospital in Greece. He was born in Batavia, June 6th, 1950, son of the late William W. Cortright Sr. and Eleanor Sullivan Cortright of Basom, NY. A resident of Wyoming County since 1979, previously of Oakfield, and a 1969 graduate of Oakfield Alabama High School, William worked as a machinist for All Mold in Henrietta, retiring as a self-employed truck driver. He was a member of the Valley Chapel Free Methodist Church in Warsaw. William loved singing, Bible studies, deer hunting, riding his Harley Davidson, reading, and his grandchildren. He served his country honorably, retiring after 25 years from the United States Army with the rank of Sergeant First Class, as part of the BRM Committee and as a Drill instructor in the 98th Division. William was predeceased by 2 brothers, Thomas and Robert Cortright. Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Leora "Faith" Hopkins Cortright whom he married June 6th, 1979; 2 sons, Luke Cortright of Warsaw and Jesse (Dana) Cortright of Brick, NJ; 2 sisters, Anna (Dave) Weatherbee of Alabama, NY and Donna (Duane) Riexinger of Darien; 2 brothers, John Cortright of Batavia and Frank Cortright of Indian Falls, NY; and 2 grandchildren, Julia and Andrew Cortright of Brick, NJ. A memorial service will be held 11am, Monday, April 4th, 2016 at the Valley Chapel Free Methodist Church with Pastor Todd Daningburg officiating where military honors will also be rendered. Burial will take place in the West Middlebury Cemetery.
