Gainesville-
Wayne J. Thompson, age 52, of N. Main St., Gainesville, passed away at his home Sunday, October 30th, 2011 after a brave fight with cancer. He was born in Worchester, MA, October 9th, 1959, the son of the late Robert and Margaret Whitney Thompson. A resident of Wyoming County since 2000, Wayne worked as a construction foreman for Allegheny Greenhouse in Portageville, NY and previously for Rex Lumber in Acton, MA. He was known as a hard worker and was very dedicated to his family. Wayne was an avid New England Patriots fan, enjoyed NASCAR and the driver Matt Kenseth. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward Thompson. Wayne is survived by his loving wife Deborah Calder, whom he married October 30th, 1980. Survivors also include 2 sons, Robert Thompson of Gainesville and John Thompson of Taylorville, IL; a granddaughter, McCayla Thompson of Gainesvile; a sister, Sandra Hill of Southpoint, OH and a brother, Mark Thompson of North Carolina. There are no services scheduled at this time.
