Vincent J. Cali, age 74 of Foster Road, Canandaigua, died peacefully, Wednesday, May 20th 2009 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Rochester, May 21st 1934 the son of the late Michael and Jennie Pavone Cali. He has lived in Canandaigua since 2004 but previously in West Virginia and Perry. Vince was a 1952 graduate of Monroe High and went on to earn a BS in Education from the University of Brockport. He taught for 16 years at Richburg, Perry, Elba, and Pavilion Central Schools. As a teacher, he enjoyed coaching all forms of athletics. Vince worked part time as an auctioneer and sold real estate before opening the Cali Insurance Agency where he retired from in 1996. Vince was a very fun loving and giving man as well as a dedicated father and grandfather. For enjoyment he loved to hunt and fish. He dedicated much of his time to helping and serving others through various community organizations. Vince was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow from the Geneseo Rotary and was committed to the Rotary Variety Show in Perry and the Geneseo Community Players. He was a staunch supporter and member of the Genesee Comm. College Foundation. Vince was a Past President of the Alpha Associates Inc., a Perry volunteer firefighter, and honorary Perry Center Volunteer Firefighter. He was also a charter member and founder of the Perry Ambulance Corp and the OTB director for Wyoming County. He sat on the Republican Committee as Election Officer and was a Docent and member of the Carriage Committee in Canandaigua. He is preceded in death by his brother; Alfred Cali. Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years Joyce S. Smith, whom he married on June 25th 1955. Also surviving are 3 sons; Michael E. (Karen) Cali of Silver Springs, Mark J. (Lynn) Cali of Volan, S. Dakota, Steven M. (Kathleen) Cali of Henrietta, a daughter; Elizabeth H. (Stephen) Clark of Warsaw, 6 grandchildren, a sister; Sarah Cali of Perry, and a sister in-law Mary Cali of Michigan. Friends of Vincent Cali may call at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main St. Warsaw on Sunday, May 24th from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Additional calling will be held on Monday the 25th from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 26th at 11am with Deacon John Kelly of St. Michael's Church celebrating. Burial will follow in the West Perry Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the GCC Foundation at 1 College Rd. Batavia, NY 14020 or a charity of the donor's choice.
