Veronica A. Baker, age 63, of Warsaw, died peacefully in her own home, Thursday, November 18th, 2010, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born in Warsaw, January 23, 1947, the daughter of Robert and Isabel Bartz Almeter. Vicky was a lifetime resident and 1964 graduate of Warsaw Central School. She attended Bryant and Stratton College from where she graduated in 1965. Vicky retired in 2007 from the Wyoming County Farm Service Agency where she worked 42 years as a program technician and later as the County Executive Director. She was strongly committed to serving the farmers in the community. Vicky was a dedicated lifetime member of St. Michaels Church in Warsaw where she was a Eucharistic Minister, member of the Altar & Rosary Society, the Church Council, and a member of the Cursillo Movement (Pueblo De Paz). She was an avid gardener who enjoyed all things outdoors and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Vicky will be best remembered by her dedication to her family, faith, and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Dennis Baker, who passed away August 9th, 1986. Survivors include her longtime loving companion, Robert "Skip" Brotherton of Warsaw; a son, Shawn (Karen) Baker of Warsaw; a daughter, Kristen (Kory) McMahon of Manlius, NY; 2 grandsons, Michael and Justin Baker and a granddaughter, Lily McMahon. Additional survivors include 5 sisters; Donna Upton of Warsaw, Roberta (Pat) Salvador of Batavia, Georgette (Dick) Griffith of Varysburg, Theresa (John) VanBuren of Warsaw, and Gail (Mark) Flint of Castile; 5 brothers, Robert (Betsy) Almeter of Norwich, NY, Keith (Linda) Almeter of Silver Springs, Gordon (Karen) Almeter of Bliss, Gary Almeter of Warsaw, Steve (Diane) Almeter of Warsaw; and several nieces and nephews. Friends of Vicky may call Saturday, November 20th from 5 to 7pm and Sunday, November 21st from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main St. Warsaw. Services will be held at St. Michael's Church, Warsaw, Monday, November 22nd at 10am. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Attica.
