Verna M. Wilson, age 88, of Murray Hill, Mt. Morris, passed away Friday, February 22nd, 2013 at the Livingston County Nursing Facility. She was born in Eagle, December 3rd, 1924, daughter of the late Glenn and Arlie Wallace Ford. A former resident of Silver Lake, Verna owned Wilson's Bakery in Perry for 11 years with her husband before going on to own and operate the Wadsworth Grill in Wadsworth. During World War II, Verna was a real life Rosie the Riveter. She was a former member of the Women of Moose in Perry, and was known as a terrific mother and grandmother. Verna was very hardworking and giving of herself, often taking care of her friends and family alike. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking. Verna was predeceased by her husband Francis R. Wilson in 2002; a son, David Wilson in 2011; a daughter, Rhonda Waite in 2007; a son-in-law, Jeff Yoder in 2011; 5 brothers, Julius, Norman, Leonard, Howard and Everett Ford; and 3 sisters, Carmella Ford, Marge Clark and Dora Zimmerman. Survivors include 2 sons, Howard W. (Tammie) Wilson of Greece and Kent A. Wilson of Leicester; 2 daughters, Relma M. (Steven) Stewart of Dansville and Nancy L. Dunn of Dansville; a sister, Mavis (Francis) Blanc of Perry; 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends of Verna may call Monday, February 25th, 2013 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm at the Weeks Funeral Home, 123 N. Main St, Warsaw. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home 10am Tuesday, February 23rd, with Pastor David Hotchkiss as celebrant. Burial will be private at a later date.
