Thomas K. Walczak age 87, of Hermitage Road, Warsaw passed away peacefully, at home, Saturday, May 11, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born in the old hospital in Warsaw November 5, 1936, a son of the late John and Victoria Konecki Walczak, and was the first of his nine siblings born there. Tom graduated from Warsaw High School in 1953 and he enlisted in the United States Army. Tom served in many positions related to Artillery including launching weather balloons throughout the United States, Korea and Germany. Upon returning home he worked as a partner with his brother Stan, and eventually buying him out to run his own dairy farm, "Walczak Farms" in Wethersfield. Tom was a longtime member of St. Michael's Church in Warsaw and enjoyed Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. In his younger years, Tom sponsored his own bowling team through the farm and loved the casino's where he was a High Roller Black Jack player. Even after his service to the nation, Tom continued service to his community through the Wethersfield Town Council and Assessment Boards. He was a member of the Wyoming County Veterans Inc. and Walter Klein Post #532 of the American Legion. Tom enjoyed the peace he found in reading, often reading several books a week. He will be remembered for his sarcastic sense of humor and his terrific smile.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years, Dorothy Devine Walczak, a foster son, Thomas O'Brien, 4 brothers, Stanley, John, Chester, and Edward, 5 sisters, Amelia O'Neill, Florence Shemm, Virginia Macejewski, Clara and Carrie Walczak.
Survivors include his son, Thomas "Dan" (Leslie) Walczak, two daughters, Cindy (Lee) Andrews, Victoria (William) Cummins all of Warsaw, numerous grand and great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and very close friends.
Friends of Thomas K. Walczak may call from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main Street Warsaw, NY 14569 with an American Legion Service beginning at 7pm. Burial will be private in the Union Park Cemetery with full military honors. Please visit www.weeksfuneral.com to offer condolences, send gifts, cards or to plant a tree in Tom's name.
