Thomas P. Madison, age 73, of Telegraph Rd., passed away suddenly Friday, April 22nd, 2016 at the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo. He was born in Warsaw, February 25th, 1943, son of the late Clayton and Margaret Fitzgibbons Madison. A lifetime resident of Wyoming County, 1960 graduate of Letchworth Central School, and holder of 2 degrees from Los Angeles Community College and Community College of the Air Force AFB; Tom worked as a Technical Engineer for the V.A. in Batavia, Canandaigua, and Buffalo from where he retired after 22 years. In his retirement, Tom worked alongside his wife in their massage therapy business. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force with the "RED HORSE", retiring after 20 years as a Master Sergeant. Tom was the president of his junior and senior high school classes as well as an altar boy at St. Mary's Church in Silver Springs as a young man. He was a member of the 4-H and helped to construct the structures at the Wyoming County Fairgrounds where he continued to volunteer for many years. Tom was a member of the Hunt-Stout Post 1670 of the American Legion, past commander of the Warsaw V.F.W., past 8th District commander of the American Legion, and member of the Pike Rescue Squad as an EMT. He was a man who not only cared about and dedicated his life to his fellow veteran, but also a man who cared for and looked after all his fellow man. Tom was the rock of his family, a dedicated serviceman, and a loving husband and father. He was predeceased by 3 brothers; James Madison, Leo "Lee" Madison, and Paul Snyder; a son, Sean Madison; a grandson, Nicholas Chmielewski; and a granddaughter, Rachel Niles. Survivors include his loving wife, Bonnie Phillips Madison of Pike; 3 daughters, Margo (Mike Niles) Doughty of Perry, Colleen (Jeffrey) Chmielewski of Holland, and Lori (Chris) Jordan of Portville; a son, Tim (Sue) Hebdon of Ischua; 3 brothers, John (Helena) Madison of Frederick, MD, David (Celeste) Madison of Wasilla, AL, and Bob (Betsy) Madison of Redding, CA; a son-in-law; Donnie Elkins of CA, a brother-in-law, Bob (Alta) Ehman of West Valley; a sister-in-law, Patti (Lenny) Lewandowski of Franklinville; 7 grandchildren, Wayne, Nicole, Ben, Evan, Zach, Nathan, and Jeffrey; 5 step grandchildren; Bryan, Traci, Alesia, Tiffany, and Brad, and several nieces and nephews also survive. Friends of Tom may call from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm Monday, May 2nd, 2016 at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main St. Warsaw where a Fireman's service will be held at 6pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home 10am Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016 where an American Legion Service and military honors will be rendered. Memorial contributions may be made in Tom's name to the Pike Rescue Squad at PO Box 175 Pike, NY 14130.
