Stephen P. Mayer, age 65, of Maple Ave., passed away Tuesday, April 12th, 2016 at the Crossroads House in Batavia. He was born in Warsaw, June 24th, 1950, son of Peter and Patricia Safford Mayer of North Fort Myers, FL. A lifetime resident of Wyoming County and 1968 graduate of Letchworth Central School, Stephen worked as a Tool and Die Maker for Lapp Insulator in LeRoy from where he retired in 2015. He was a dedicated father who loved pitching horseshoes, camping, trips to Disney World, the Green Bay Packers and the New York Mets. Stephen is survived by his loving wife, Edna Buckley Mayer of Pike, whom he married July 15th, 1972; a daughter, Tenesia (Bryan) Boyle of Middleport, NY; 2 grand daughters, Kaydence and Peyton Boyle; 4 brothers, David (Cheryl) Mayer of Pike, John (Marcia) Mayer of Arcade, Peter (Joan) Mayer of Florida, and Patrick (Sharon) Mayer of Florida; 3 sisters, Sandra (Robert) King of Gainesville, Susan (Robert) Harcleroad of West Sparta, NY and Cindy (Bill Wittmeyer) Mayer of Bliss; 2 special nephews, Tim Thurber of Alabama and DJ Thurber of Pike; a special niece, Bobbie Schwab of Alabama; a special buddy, Mason Schwab of Alabama and several additional nieces and nephews. Friends of Stephen may call from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm Monday, April 18th, 2016 at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main St. Warsaw. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home 10am Tuesday, April 19th, 2016 with Pastor Bob Farnsworth of Pike Community Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery, Pike.
