Shirley E. Scroback, age 89, of Sherman Ave. passed away peacefully Thursday, May 3 ^rd , 2018 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital surrounded by her friends and family. She was born in Cuylerville, March 17 ^th , 1929, daughter of the late James and Eugenia Herbst Sprague. A liftime resident of Wyoming County, Salutatorian and 1946 graduate of Wyoming High School, and notary public since 1957, Shirley worked as a real estate broker with the Scroback Agency in Wyoming for over 20 years. She was a member of the Warsaw Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution since 2001 and was treasurer of the organization since 2003. Shirley also acted as secretary and treasurer of the Wyoming Cemetery from 1972 until recently, also tending to and mowing the cemetery since 1991. Shirley was predeceased by a son, Peter Scroback in 1989; 2 brothers, John Sprague in 1983 and Chauncey Sprague; 2 sisters, F. Isabel Crane and Helen Reynolds; and a niece Rose Reynolds. Survivors include 3 nieces, Mary Sprague Murray, Linda Sprague Sturgell and Paula Sprague Knapp; and 6 nephews, Benjamin Reynolds, Neil Sprague, John Allen Sprague, Chauncey Jan Sprague, David E. Johnson, and Thomas Sprague. Friends of Shirley may call Tuesday, May 8 ^th , 2018 from 2pm to 4pm at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main St. Warsaw. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home following calling hours at 4pm conducted by Pastor Todd Daningburg of Warsaw's Valley Chapel as officiant. Burial will take place in the Wyoming Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wyoming Cemetery at 1324 Kingsley Rd. Wyoming, NY 14591 or to the Mary Jemmison Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution at 3662 Truesdale, Rd. Warsaw, NY 14569.
