Shirley J. Rider, age 89, of East Hillside Road Bliss, passed away peacefully at home, Saturday November 23 ^rd 2019. Shirley was born in Freedom, NY the daughter of the late Carl and Dorothy Dewitt Mummery. She worked at the Warsaw Knitting Mill for a few years before settling down to raise a family. Shirley enjoyed the outdoors, cutting her own firewood, and especially spending time in her beautiful flower gardens. Shirley liked to take long walks on her property and looked forward to deer season every year, hunting until the age of 86. She was the family caretaker maintained cemetery plots for many family members and friends and just doing for others.

Shirley was preceded in death by her first husband Carl Holmes, her second husband Oscar H. Rider, a son Gary Holmes, a daughter Linda Sparks, 2 great granddaughters named Michaela Holmes, four brothers; Donald, Norman "Timmy", Stanley and Ronald Mummery, four sisters; Marie Rosier, Phyllis Stack, Nadeane Lalonde, Beverly "Stubby" Herrell.

Survivors include three sons; Larry (Linda) Holmes of Warsaw, Dennis (Dale) Holmes of Castile, Douglas (Melody) Holmes of Bliss, a step-son, Steven (Linda) Rider of Austin, TX, a sister; Sylvia (Herbie) DeGroff of Perry. Numerous grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends of Shirley J. Rider may call on Tuesday, November 26 ^th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main Street Warsaw. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 27 ^th at 10am with the Reverend Sam Wolcott of the Sandusky Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Curriers Cemetery.
