Russell Sheldon West, age 63 of Perry Road, Pavilion, passed away, peacefully, Saturday, December 28, 2024 at the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, with his family by his side. Russ was born in Springville, October 24, 1961, a son of Ray S. West and Loraine C. Stauffer West of Pavilion. Russ graduated from LeRoy Central School in 1979 and went on to attend Ohio Diesel Technical School. He spent a lifetime keeping the trucks and equipment on the road in Wyoming County while working for the NYS Department of Transportation as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for 37 years before retiring in 2016. Russ could fix just about anything and operated his own business on the side, RW Auto in Covington. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and camping with his family. Russ enjoyed horseback trail riding and team penning. He was a tremendously hard working guy but was devoted to his beloved family and adored his grandchildren.
Russ was preceded in death by a daughter, Amber D. West and his father Ray.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Sharon Dumbleton West whom he married on December 22, 1984, three daughters, Alexis (Brian) Green of Batavia, Christine (Jeffrey) Means of Irondequoit, Katlyn (Adam) Hawks of Covington, a sister, Carol West of Georgia, a brother, David (Lori Arend) West of Stafford, seven grandchildren, Caleb and Zoey Green, Sydney and Charlie Means, Allie, Colin and Nora Hawks as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Russ's Life will be held on January 12th 2025 at 2:00pm at BW's in Pavilion.
