Ronald W. Coons, age 81 of Eaton Street, Springville, passed away peacefully, at home, Monday, July 8th 2024. Ron was born in Springville the son of the late Wilbur and Cecelia Wozniak Coons. A 1960 graduate of Springville Griffith Institute, Ron worked building radio towers around the country before joining the United States Navy in 1964, serving honorably in Newfoundland and Argentina until his discharge in 1968. After returning home he joined the Teamsters and began working as a Press Operator for F.N. Burt Box Manufacturing in Cheektowaga and retired after 30 years in 1998. Ron was a co-owner with his wife, of Bakers Delight in Springville and later the Candy Farm in North Collins. An avid race fan, Ron traveled locally and afar to attend races with his friends and family. He loved the family picnics at the various regional parks and also enjoyed fishing and hunting. For many years he traveled to Canada on family fishing trips. Ron belonged to the American Legion and the Springville Field and Stream.

Ron was preceded by his wife of 45 years, Mary Hebdon Coons in 2022 and a sister, Linda Kaczmarek in 2004.

Survivors include his four sons, Deane (Linda) Bragg of West Valley, Kenneth (Beth) Bragg of Machias, Timothy (Judy) Bragg of Machias, Jeffery (Jamie) Bly of South Dayton, 2 Daughters, Donna (Darrell) Bishop of Derby, Kimberly (Bradley) Mueller of Sardinia, 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be held at 12pm October 5, 2024 at the Lime Lake Sportsman's Club 9586 N. Sisson Rd. Machias, NY 14101. Burial will follow at the Maplewood Cemetery in Springville.
