Roger L. Schwedt, age 87, of Rte. 20A, Varysburg, passed away Tuesday, January 3rd, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lancaster, NY, August 10th, 1929, son of the late Leonard and Lida Kern Schwedt. A resident of Wyoming County since 1936, and previously of Lancaster and Elma, Roger graduated from Attica Central High School in 1947. He was a lifetime self employed crop and dairy farmer until his retirement in 2015. Roger was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Warsaw, a former Orangeville Town Board member, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors, camping and traveling nationwide. He is survived by his loving wife, Irene A. Pawlak Schwedt of Varysburg, whom he married December 20th, 1952; a daughter, Sharon (Volney Jr.) Spencer of Varysburg; a son, Alan (Robin) Schwedt of Greenfield Center; 4 grandsons, Josh (Shirley) Spencer of Attica, Evan Spencer of North Java, Aaron (Emily) Spencer of Gainesville, and Kevin (Heather Brooks) Charbonneau of Corinth; a granddaughter, Jeslyn (Michael) Bell of Porter Corners; 2 great grandsons, Tyler Spencer of Attica and Austin Brooks of Corinth; and 3 great granddaughters, McKayla Spencer of Attica, Brooklynne Beebe of Porter Corners, and Addyson Charbonneau of Corinth. Friends of Roger may call from 10am to noon, Saturday, January 7th, 2017 at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main St. Warsaw. A funeral service will be held following the calling hours at noon, with Pastor Barb Mosher officiating. Burial will take place privately in the Pleasant View Cemetery (Dutch Flats), Attica.
