Robert G. Root, age 88, of West Main St., LeRoy, passed away Friday, April 6th, 2012 at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. Robert was born in Rochester, NY, March 7th, 1924, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Root. A lifetime resident of Genesee County, Robert work as fleet maintenance for Rochester Gas and Electric from where he retired. Robert served his county honorably with the United States Army during World War 2. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of LeRoy, American Legion Post #576 of LeRoy, the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1132 and Independent Order of Odd Fellows Teoronto Lodge #8 of Rochester. He is survived by his wife Lois A. Smith Root whom he married October 5th, 1985; 3 sons, 5 daughters, many grand, great grand and great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends. A funeral service will be held at the Weeks Funeral Home, 123 N. Main St., Warsaw, Wednesday, April 11th, 2012 with Rev. Leanne Zeck as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Grace Cemetery, Castile.
