Rita M. Engel age 85 of Canandaigua, New York died peacefully Tuesday, March 1st 2016 at the Ontario Center. She was born in Canandaigua, August 13th 1930, the daughter of the late Delbert J. and Myrta H. Sandels Mix. Rita attended Pavilion Central School and lived in Warsaw, NY for many years. She worked in Batavia at the box factory and later the Genesee County Nursing Facility as a nurse's aide from where she retired. Rita attended St. Mary's Church in Canandaigua and was a dedicated wife and mother.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Albert J. Bartz.
Rita is survived by her loving husband of twenty two years, Richard P. Engel whom she married on September 8th 1993. Also surviving are her two sons; Robert (Linda ) Kraft of Nunda and Charles Bartz of Batavia, a daughter; Theresa Anderson of Hamburg, two brothers; Robert (Jean) Mix of Alexander, Gerald (Jean) Mix of LeRoy, two sisters; Theresa (Bernie) Poole of Oakfield, and Margaret Mix of Albion, several grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Friends of Rita Engel may call at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main Street Warsaw on Monday, March 7th from 12-2pm followed by a funeral service at 2pm. Burial will be conducted in the Rose Ridge Cemetery in Naples, NY on Tuesday, March 8th at 11am.
