Richard L. Mitchell, age 79 of Hermitage Road, Warsaw passed away at home, peacefully, Wednesday, May 1st 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Rich was born in Rochester, October 18, 1944, a son of the late Frank V. Mitchell and Marian G. Packard Mitchell. A 1964 graduate of Charlotte High School, Rich had already enlisted in the United States Air Force and departed soon after graduation. He served for twenty years as a Administrative Technician beginning in Gettysburg, South Dakota, Vietnam, Rome, NY, Hawaii, Tuscon AZ, and retiring as a T-SGT from Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. Upon retiring from active duty, Rich took a job as a Management Analyst for the Defense Logistics Agency at the Defense Personnel Center in Philadelphia and retired from there in 2007 after 23 years. Rich served his country, his community and his family with honor. He was a very special veteran and a terrific family man. For many years, Rich played wiffle-ball with the kids in the neighborhood along with the leadership and guidance he provided led to those kids all joining the military and having successful careers. Rich was a Cub Scout leader and a longtime member of VFW Post 4823 in Warsaw.

Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Carol Ann Edwards Mitchell whom he married May 1st 1965. Additional survivors include his mother, Marian G. Mitchell of Rochester, a son, Dennis (Elizabeth-Anne) Mitchell of Greece, Denise (Scott Swan) Mitchell of Warsaw, two brothers, Danny Mitchell of Palmyra, Robert (Eydie) Mitchell of Greece, three sisters, Kathy (Karl) Brandon of Greece, Maureen Mitchell of Rochester, Janet Mitchell of Fairport, eight grandchildren, Michael Jr. (Tricia Grisewood), Dory, Carol (Nick) and Rachael (Austin Uveino) Cedrone, John (Moriah) Mitchell, Gabriella (Conner) Reap, Sarah and Rebekah Mitchell, great grandchildren, Cole, Chloe Uveino, John Jr., and Eve Mitchell, along with adopted Liz Edwards, Mikey, McKayla, Dom, Sky and several nieces and nephews. They all called him Pepa!

Memorial services will be held followed by Full Military Honors conducted at 11am, Tuesday, May 14, 2024 in the Western New York National Cemetery in Pembroke. A Celebration of Richard's Life will be held at the Perry Fireman's Building at the Perry Village Park from 3-6pm on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.
