Richard L. "Dick" Cummins, age 71, of Pleasant Valley Rd. passed away Monday, October 1 st , 2018 at his home in Bliss. He was born in Warsaw, August 12 th , 1947, son of the late Robert and Amy Casper Cummins. A lifetime resident of Wyoming County and a 1964 graduate of Warsaw High School, Dick was a crop and dairy farmer on his family farm in Wethersfield and worked for Batavia Farm Equipment and at Rochester Tractor as a Branch Manager. He was a longtime member of the New Beginnings Fellowship Church in Gainesville and boarded horses for many years in Hermitage. Dick was active with the American Legion in the Eagle Memorial Post 1720 and served his country honorably from 1970 to 1972 with the United States Army during Vietnam. He was predeceased by a son, Christopher Cummins; a brother, Frank Cummins; a brother-in-law, David Brown, and a nephew, Douglas Hayes. Survivors include the mother of his children, Renee Wright of Warsaw; 3 sons, Gary (Kim) Cummins of Bliss, Rod (Lisa) Cummins of Pavilion, and Levi (Kisha) Cummins of Silver Springs; 2 daughters, Alison (Matthew) Cray of LeRoy and Kim Cummins of Plattsburg; 2 brothers, Robert (Shirley) Cummins of Warsaw and Raymond (Bobby) Cummins of Castile; 3 sisters, Barbara Brown of Attica, Katherine Cowie of Warsaw, and Edith (James) Hayes of Perry; and 11 grandchildren. Friends of Dick may call from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9 pm Friday, October 5 th , 2018 at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main St. Warsaw where an American Legion Service will be held at 6:45pm. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home 10am Saturday, October 6 th , 2018 where full military honors will be rendered. Burial will take place at a later date in the Union Park Cemetery, Wethersfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Eagle Memorial Post 1720 at 3377 Main St. Bliss, NY 14024 or to the North Java Rescue Squad at 4274 NY-98 North Java, NY 14113.
