Obituary

Richard A. Colton, age 77, of South Warsaw Road, Warsaw passed away peacefully, Thursday, December 19 th 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo. Dick was born in Warsaw, November 14 th 1942, the son of the late Alfred M. and Marie I. Heineman Colton. Prior to his retirement, Dick worked as a crane operator in Rochester and was a member of Local #832 of the International Union of Operating Engineers. He served with Wyoming Hook and Ladder where he enjoyed the many events and cooking for the Barbecues. He enjoyed playing cards and was well known for his great sense of humor and quick wit. Dick liked to spend time at Laura's Country Kitchen in Pike where he usually arrived before the staff and often boasted he could open for them if needed, as he was a regular "fixture" there.

Dick was preceded in death by a son, David Colton and a sister, Jean Gadd.

Survivors include his two daughters, Patricia (Richard) Sutphen of Cape Coral, FL, Lisca Colton of Batavia, a son, Larry Colton of Daytona, FL, two brothers, Larry Colton of Delevan, and George (Shirley Sherwood) Colton of Warsaw, a sister, Judy (David) Brockner of West Seneca, a brother in-law, Thomas Gadd of Alden, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews, and longtime friend, Margaret "Peggy" Whalen of Batavia.

A memorial service celebrating Dick's life will be held 4pm Saturday, January 11 th at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main Street Warsaw begin beginning with a service from the Wyoming Hook and Ladder and followed by Tim Buckman.
