Obituary

Raymond J. "Lightning" Schumacher, age 82, of Starr Rd., Wyoming, passed away Monday, April 8th, 2013 at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility in Warsaw. He was born in Cohocton, February 9th, 1931, son of the late Nicholas J. and Agnes Neu Schumacher. A resident of Wyoming County since 1973, and previously of Howard, NY, Raymond owned and operated Schum Acres Dairy Farm in Wyoming before retiring in 1995. He was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception in East Bethany and enjoyed traveling, the telephone, the Holloween season, family get togethers, and being around people. Raymond was known to be a great entertainer who worked and played hard and was always there for others. He served his country honorably with the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. Raymond was predeceased by his loving wife of 45 years, Carol Bennett Schumacher. Survivors include 3 sons, John (Debra) Schumacher of Naples, Joseph (Jackie) Schumacher of Cody, WY, and Jerald (Jackie) Schumacher of Wyoming; 2 daughters, Joanne Schumacher of Warsaw and Jennifer (Michael) Reichert of Pleasant Valley, NY; 2 sisters, Marian Crawford of Wayland and Dorothy Vanderhoff of Port St. Lucie, FL; a brother, Victor (Shirley) Schumacher of Cohocton; 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Friends of Raymond may call from 4pm to 8pm Friday, April 12th, 2013 at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main St., Warsaw. A mass of Christian burial will be held 10am, Saturday, April 13th, 2013 at Immaculate Conception church in East Bethany with Father Richard Cilano as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Pavilion Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pavilion Fire Department at PO Box 156 Pavilion, NY 14525 or to the Wyoming Hook and Ladder Company at PO Box 36 Wyoming, NY 14591.
