Ray S. West, age 77 of Creek Road Pavilion, passed away peacefully at home, Friday April 10th, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Buffalo, July 14th 1937, the son of the late Sheldon and Christine Misner West. A resident of Pavilion since 1992, previously of Albany, LeRoy, Cheektowaga, and West Valley where he grew up, Ray graduated from West Valley Central in 1955. He served in the United States Navy honorably from 1956 to 1960 as a Meteorological Technician. Ray went on to work for the National Weather Service for 32 years until his retirement in 1992. A member of Pavilion United Methodist Church, Ray was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. After retirement he spent his winters in Florida playing Bocce and spending time with his beloved wife of 54 years, Loraine C. Stauffer whom he married on October 22nd 1960. Ray also served as the Town of Pavilion Building Inspector and Zoning Officer.
Ray is survived by his wife Loraine, two sons; Russell (Sharon) West of Covington, David (Nancy) West of Greece, a daughter; Carol West of Buford, GA, two brothers; Wayne (Sue) West of East Amherst, Dennis West of Lockport, six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends of Ray West may call on Monday, April 13th at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main Street Warsaw from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home 1pm on Tuesday, April 14th with Pastor Wilson Jones of the Pavilion United Methodist Church.
