Dr. Norman O. Smith "Doc", age 94, of Mill St. passed away Monday, July 3rd, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Silver Springs, March 26th, 1923, son of the late John J. and Lulu Eddy Smith. A resident of Nunda for over 50 years and a 1941 graduate of Silver Springs High School, Doc graduated from Lincoln Chiropractic College in Indianapolis, Indiana. Doc worked as a self employed chiropractor for 63 years before retiring in 2014. He was a former member of the National Chiropractic Association and the New York State Chiropractic Association, was a 73 year member of the Oakland Lodge #379 of Free and Accepted Masons, was a member of the Duryea ­ Kleinhenz ­ Lanthrop VFW Post #8961 in Nunda and a member of the Nunda Methodist Church. Doc served as a special deputy for the Livingston County Sheriffs Office, earned his pilot's license, and enjoyed rollerskating and riding his motorcycle. He served his country honorably with the United States Navy pacific destroyer escort at Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Doc was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, Henrietta F. "Luckie" Henning in 2005. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Baker Smith whom he married in 2011; 2 sons, Norman Smith Jr. of Loris, South Carolina and Wayne Smith of Perkinsville; a daughter, Melissa (Mathew) Rowley of Honeoye; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Friends of Doc may call Friday, July 7th, 2017 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main St. Warsaw. A funeral Service will be held 10 am Saturday, July 8th, 2017 at the funeral home with Reverend Paul Palmer of the Oakland Wesleyan Church officiating.
