Mike J. Falkner, age 90, of Perry, formerly of Wyoming, NY, died peacefully Wednesday, December 1st, 2010 at Eastside Nursing and Rehab Center in Warsaw surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Warsaw, February 27th, 1920, the son of the late Ben and Pearl Shay Falkner. Mike worked in inventory control for many years and retired from Eastman Kodak of Rochester. He was a kind and gentle man with a terrific sense of humor. Mike enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, and spending time with his family. He served his country honorably with the United States Army during World War II. Mike fought through the Battle of the Bulge and the entire European Theatre. He later became a member of Botts-Fiorito Post #576 of the American Legion in LeRoy. Mike spent many years active in Boy Scouting especially at Camp Sam Wood. He is predeceased by his first wife, Katherine Falkner; a son, Keith Falkner; a daughter, Diane Falkner; a brother, Howard Falkner and a sister, Elsie Moag. Survivors include his wife, Joanne Peck Falkner; 2 sons, James (Monica) Johnson of Portageville and Brian Johnson of Perry; a daughter, Teresa (David) Bosdyk of Perry; a daughter-in-law, Donna Falkner of LeRoy; a sister, Phylena Estabrook of Salamanca; 5 grandchildren, Tammy Falkner Gall of Florida, Shawn (Jean) Falkner of Maine, Scott (Lisa) Falkner of LeRoy, Eric (Holly) Howe of Groveland and Tonya Loper of Perry; 9 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, and many nieces and nephews. Friends of Mike Falkner may call at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main Street, Warsaw on Sunday, December 5th from 11am to 1pm immediately followed by funeral services conducted by Rev. Donald Vogel. Military honors will be offered at the funeral home and burial will be private in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Perry Center.
