Matthew T. Hendrickson, age 28, of Pleasant St. passed away Saturday, October 14th, 2017 at his home in Leicester. He was born in Rochester, June 22nd, 1989, son of Jim and Stephanie Nahalka Hendrickson of Gainesville. Matt lived in Leicester until the 5th grade, attending York Central School until the family relocated to Wyoming County. He graduated from Letchworth High School and attended Fingerlakes Community College for conservation. Matt worked as a herdsman for many years as well as a hoof trimmer for his uncle and his father. He continued to trim for his father at Jimmy's Hoof Trimming in Gainesville while pursuing a career at American Rock Salt in Geneseo; where he planned to retire from. To say Matt loved hunting would be an understatement. He lived for opening day of every season. Matt truly had a passion for the outdoors. He often spoke of his high school sports memories; especially his wrestling family. Matt loved all his family dearly and gave his all to anyone who could benefit from his helping hand. He always put one hundred percent of himself into anything he cared about without hesitation. Matt was predeceased by his grandfather, Dallas Hendrickson and his cousin, Jesse Nahalka. Survivors include his parents; his brothers, Joe Hendrickson of Gainesville, Bucky Hendrickson of Warsaw, and Coty Hendrickson of Gainesville; his sisters, Chrissy (Jefferson) Dargout of Rochester and Katie Jo (Zach) Kuhn of Massena; a nephew and nieces; his maternal grandparents, Joseph Nahalka of Leicester and Connie Nahalka of Florida; his paternal grandmother, Dolly Hendrickson of Perry; his loving companion June Merrell of Leicester; June's daughter, Carrmen, who Matt loved like his own; and many very close aunts, uncles and beloved cousins on both sides of his family. Friends of Matt may call Thursday, October 19th, 2017 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main St. Warsaw. Additional calling hours will be held Friday, October 20th, 2017 from 10am to 12pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 12pm on Friday, October 20th, 2017. Burial will take place in the Leicester Cemetery.
