Obituary

Mary F. Lowden-Marsh, age 90, of Jefferson St, Castile passed away Wednesday, May 17th, 2017 at the New York State Veterans Home in Batavia. She was born in Silver Springs, February 28th, 1927, daughter of the late Frank and Mary Luzer Rajk, both of Yugoslavia. A lifetime resident of Wyoming County and 1944 graduate of Silver Springs High School where she was Secretary-Treasurer of her class, Mary worked in the office at Morton Salt in Silver Springs as well as Postmaster for the Castile Post Office from where she retired in 1990. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Church in Silver Springs, and volunteered as an elections inspector for the Wyoming County Board of Elections and in the gift shop at the Wyoming County Community Hospital. After retirement, Mary enjoyed hostessing at her son Robert's restaurant and operating her own apartment house well into her eighties. Mary enjoyed travel, attending postal conventions, watching her grandchildren, collecting punch bowl sets and hats, entertaining friends and family, crossword puzzles, yard sales, baking and cooking (her rhubarb pie is already missed), watching John Wayne, World War II movies, and playing cards. Mary left no stone unturned and will be missed by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her former husband, Stewart G. Lowden; her husband, Jack Marsh; 2 brothers, Louis and Frank Rajk and a sister, Angie Crawford. Survivors include 2 sons, Robert (Tammy Keroack) Lowden of Caledonia and Michael (Donna) Lowden of Castile; 5 grandchildren, Stacy, Jason (fiancee Mallory), Matthew, Benjamin (Kari), and Ryan (fiancee Amber) Lowden; 2 great grandchildren, Dane and William Lowden; dear nieces, Janet Bookmiller, Susan McClellan, and Marianne Rajk; nieces; nephews; cousins; longtime close friend, Ann Bookmiller; high school classmate, Lois Nunweiler; and special friends, Elaine Sluka, Debi Herman, Robin Weiland, Lori Eaton, and Tracey Klever. Friends of Mary may call from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9 pm Monday, May 22nd, 2017 at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main St. Warsaw. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am Tuesday, May 23rd, 2017 at St. Mary's Church 23 Church St, Silver Springs with Father James Hartwell of St. Michael's Church, Warsaw celebrating.
