Mary E. Adamowich, age 83, of Rapids City, IL, passed away Friday, December 11th, 2015 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice in Bettendorf, Iowa. She was born in King Ferry, New York, June 6th, 1932, daughter of the late Charles and Doris Dunning King. A graduate of Castile High School, NY, Mary opened and managed the Tree of Life Bookstore in Plainville, CT, from where she retired in 2009. She was devoted to her faith and her family, and was a terrific pianist who could play her best when playing by ear. Mary will be fondly remembered for her homemade bread and sticky buns. She was fond of puzzles, word games and an avid reader. These kept her mind sharp. Mary was a woman of great compassion and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Edward T. Adamowich in 2007; a sister, Jennie Allbright, and 3 brothers, Edmund, Charles and Albert King, one grandson Michael Adamowich and a great grandson Owen Masters. Survivors include 3 sons, Daniel (Donna) Adamowich of Rapids City, IL; Steven (Karen) Adamowich of Bristol, CT, Thomas (Cami) Adamowich of Peoria, AZ, and a daughter, Darla (Stephen) Davis of Downingtown, PA; 2 sisters, Judy King and Carol King both of Pike, NY; 12 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Friends of Mary may call from 10am to noon, Monday, December 21st, 2015 at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main St. Warsaw, NY 14569. A private graveside service will be held following calling hours in the Elmwood Cemetery, Pike, NY with Pastor Daryn Duff of Rock Glen Baptist Church officiating.
