Obituary

Marie A. Lee, 82, of West Middlebury Road, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Buffalo General Hospital, with loved ones by her side.

Marie was born on May 31, 1944, in the former Warsaw Hospital, a daughter of the late Harold and Helen Baker Rowley. A lifelong resident of Wyoming and a 1962 graduate of Wyoming Central School, Marie devoted her life to raising and supporting her family while building a long and dedicated career.

Marie worked as a secretary for more than 50 years. She began her career with Potter DeWitt, which later became B.R. DeWitt, and then spent more than 30 years with Pavilion Drainage before retiring around 2010.

Marie was a lifelong member of the Wyoming United Methodist Church, where she became one of the church organists at age 16 and continued playing the organ until her recent illness. She often filled in at other churches as well. Her deep faith was reflected in the way she lived her life, always willing to lend a hand and help others whenever she was needed.

Marie’s main focus was her faith and family. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and locals will fondly remember her soups and pies she prepared for the Apple Umpkin Festival. She was often outdoors tending to her flowers and raspberry bushes. She was a devoted Buffalo Bills season ticket holder and rarely missed a game. Marie will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, faith, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Marie was preceded in death by her former husband and father of her children, Kenneth Lee, granddaughter, Abigail Lee; brother-in-law, Michael Clark; and sister-in-law, Barbara Kleinbach.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie Lee, and son, Kevin (Nicole) Lee, both of Wyoming; grandchildren, Josh Lee of Warsaw and Elizabeth Friesema of Wyoming; brother, Charlie Kleinbach of Virginia; sisters, Mary Lou Clark of Wyoming, Patricia (Les) Ruckert and Vicki (Ron) Gross, both of Florida; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Friends may call on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, from 1–3 p.m. and 6–8 p.m. at Weeks Funeral Home, 123 N. Main Street, Warsaw, NY 14569. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, beginning at 10 a.m., with Pastor Karen Woodworth of the Wyoming United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Wyoming Cemetery with Pastor Benjamin Campbell, of the First Baptist Church of Wyoming performing the committal.
