Marian L. Akin, age 93, formerly of Miner Road Warsaw, died peacefully, Wednesday, May 28th at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw.
Marian was born in Warsaw, January 31st 1915, the daughter of the late Michael and Mermie(Zeliff) Herrmann. She was a lifetime resident of the area and worked for over 20 years as a bookkeeper for Francis Herrmann Inc. and the Valley View Lanes in Warsaw. She was a strong and independent woman who belonged to the Women's Temperance League and was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Warsaw. She had a passion for playing piano, knitting and flower gardening.
She is predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Loren Akin who passed away in 1974, a sister Mermie Lemley, 3 brothers; John, Kenneth, and Francis Herrmann.
Survivors include a sister; Lana Schoenthal of Warsaw, 6 nephews; Gary (Linda) Herrmann of Warsaw, Dennis (Jane) Lemley of Buffalo, David (Bev) Herrmann of Texas, Kieth (Cyndee) Herrmann of Warsaw, Roger (Sue) Herrmann of California, Kevin Lemley of LeRoy. Six nieces also survive; Wilma Gleason of Hunt, NY, Shirley (Fred) Humphrey of Warsaw, Pattie (Gary) Brockel of Bethany, Linda (Mike) Moroz of Tennessee, Sandy (Brock) Vosburgh of South Carolina, and Sheri (Rob) Kirsh of Warsaw.
Friends of Marian L. Akin may call from 7-9pm on Friday, May 30th at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main Street Warsaw where funeral services will be at 11am on Saturday, May 31st with the Reverend Winston Platt of the First Baptist Church celebrating.
