Lyman C. "Chad" Broughton, age 81, of McCormick St., Portageville, passed away Friday, February 27th, 2015 at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. He was born in Castile, December 26th, 1933, son of the late Lyman and Eona Creveling Broughton. Chad was a resident of East Central/Orange City, FL for 14 years, resident of Wyoming County since 2007, and a 1954 graduate of Nunda Central School. He worked construction as a technical engineer for many years, 5 years at the Attica Correctional Facility, and as plant manager at the New York State School for the Blind from where he retired from 1996. Chad served his country honorably with the United States Army from 1955 to 1957 with the Headquarters 2nd Armored Division. Chad was a former member of the Hally-Allen American Legion post #1341 in Sonyea, and a current member of Walter Klein Post #532 in Warsaw, a member of the Warsaw Vets Club, and held the position of 1st Assistant Chief for the Genesee Falls Fire Department for 20 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia M. Brogan Broughton in 1984 and a grandson, Scott M. Broughton. Survivors include 2 sons, Lawrence (Cheryl) Broughton of Portageville and Lynn (Roberta) Broughton of Gainesville; 3 daughters, Maureen (Earl) Goodenow of Portageville, Peggy(Kevin Godfrey)Smith of Toronto, Canada, and Glenda (Mark) Brooks of Warsaw; a brother, Richard (Sue) Broughton of Lake Helen, FL; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
