Linda A.
Brunton

Linda Ann BruntonMay 30, 1942 to Oct 18, 2026
Linda Brunton was born May 30, 1942, in Kenmore, NY, the middle of three children of Robert Thomas Brunton Sr. and Alice Brunton, with big brother Tom on one side and little sister Barb on the other. If you’d ever attended a Brunton family gathering, you know exactly where Linda was. Not in the middle. At the edge, hands in her pockets, singing every word of every song and conspiring with (and egging on) whoever was being most raucous that year. She never needed the spotlight. She held down the edges of the group, solid and happy, and the whole thing held together better because she was there. And her giggle! Linda had a child-like happiness that never wore off, and it came out in full force when she told stories about growing up in the Brunton house. She laughed her way through every one. She graduated from Kenmore High School, earned her bachelor’s at SUNY Cortland, and then a master’s in Community and Outdoor Education from Springfield College in Massachusetts. Then she went and did something with it. For years she worked for Lighthouse International as assistant director of the Lighthouse Vacation Center, the camp for the blind in Waretown and Red Bank, NJ. Her job was making sure people who couldn’t see the outdoors could still experience them, including the camp’s sailing program. It was the perfect job for someone who loved the outdoors and loved people even more. New Jersey is also where Linda met her beloved partner, Anne Anderson, and where they built a life together. In “retirement,” they moved home to Western New York and ran a small draft horse rescue as part of the Equine Rescue Program in Wyoming. If an animal needed a home, there was a decent chance it ended up with Linda and Anne. She filled our holidays with hugs and bluegrass music where she would occasionally entertain us on the washtub bass and taught us all how to play the spoons. She loved her siblings fiercely, and she was a kind and caring aunt, cousin and friend. Linda was predeceased by Anne, by her parents, and by her brother, Tom (Robert Thomas Brunton, Jr). She is survived by her sister, Barb Zentz, and Barb’s husband, Gene; her sister-in-law, Peg Brunton; her nieces Laura Lorenz, Betsy Peters, Becki Bissell, Genn Zentz and Jocelyn Strand; and her nephew Scot Zentz. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to The Lighthouse for the Blind. Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main Street Warsaw, NY 14569 has arrangements.
