Joe W. Finch, age 73, of West Court St., Warsaw, died Monday, October 4th, 2010 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born in Warsaw, October 30th, 1936, the son of the late Gerald and Marion Shererd Finch. A lifetime resident of Wyoming County, Joe retired in 1994 after 23 years as a machine shop supervisor for Lapp Insulator, LeRoy. He also spent many years working for Mallory Timers in Warsaw. Joe served our country during the Korean era with the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1957. Joe was a longtime member of St. Michaels Church in Warsaw, Walter Klein Post# 532 of the American Legion, Warsaw Memorial Post# 4823 of the V.F.W., past member of the Warsaw Fire Department and current member of the Warsaw Exempt. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, coaching little league and was a passionate Bills and Sabres fan. Joes true love however rested in his time spent woodworking. He is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth "Betty" Finch whom he married September 5th, 1959. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Cynthia Sturm of Webster and Sandra (Craig) Geercken of Warsaw, 2 sons; Richard Finch of Buffalo and Brian (Stephanie) Finch of Oswego, 1 brother; Jim Finch of Cassadega, 1 sister; Elenora Barth of Warsaw, and 7 grandchildren. Joe is predeceased by a brother, David Finch, a sister; Marjorie Veazey and 1 granddaughter, Stacy Geercken. Friends of Joe Finch may call Thursday, October 7th, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the Weeks Funeral Home, 123 N. Main Street, Warsaw. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Friday, October 8th, 2010 at St. Michael's Church, Warsaw. Burial will follow, in St. Joseph's Cemetery, with full military honors.
