LaVern E. Dickes, age 59, of West Buffalo St., died February 2nd, 2011 at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia, New York. He was born in Warsaw, September 2nd, 1951, the son of the late Albert E. and Monica B. Dickes. A lifetime resident of Wyoming County and a 1970 graduate of Warsaw Central School, Vern worked for 10 years as a tool crib supervisor with the Automotive Corporation in Batavia and previously worked for the Almor Corporation in Warsaw for 20 years. Vern enjoyed woodworking, antiques, and the old fashioned way of life. He was a very quiet and private man who lived simply. He was predeceased by a daughter, Louann M. Dickes and a sister, Betty Wolcott. Survivors include his wife, Pamela J. Nearhood-Dickes; a son, Brian (Donna Pratt) Dickes of Wyoming, 3 sisters; Jearoldine Schaumlarffel of Orangeville, Teresa (Larry) Nearhood of Warsaw and Donna Dickes of Perry; a brother, Edwin (Deb) Dickes of Warsaw, and several nieces and nephews.
