Kevin R.
Appleby
Sep 15, 1956 — Aug 27, 2024
Summerville
Kevin R. Appleby, age 67, who was born and raised in Warsaw, N.Y., passed on August 27, 2024, in his adopted hometown of Summerville S.C.
Kevin will be sorely missed by his loving wife, Jan, daughter Beverlee and son-in-law Nicolas, granddaughter Freya, Mother Caroline, brother Patrick, sister-in-law Heidi, his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Jerry and brother, Mark.
Kevin was extremely proud of his 21 years of service in the United States Navy, where he retired earning the rank of Master Chief. After retirement from the Navy, he dedicated his life to help guide and educate children from all backgrounds as a schoolteacher for 23 years.
His deep compassion for others was also evident in his faith and his involvement in the Summerville Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon in several ministries. Kevin recently took great honor in being installed as an elder in May of 2024.
He also became an avid cyclist and used this passion to help others by participating in multiple charity rides to raise funds for diabetes research in support for his students who had the disease.
Kevin was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor.
He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them- and if you knew him, you knew it. When his time came, he carried himself with dignity, strength, and full of love for those who went before him. He will be missed dearly and will always be in our hearts.
