Karen McKinney of Concord, N.C., formerly of Warsaw, died at her home on Tuesday May 19, 2020. Karen was born in Warsaw on April 3, 1949, daughter of the late Norman P and Shirley(Brown) May. She was preceded in death by a sister, Diane.
Karen worked for many years at Robeson's in Castile before relocating to North Carolina and accepting a position at Charlotte Motor Speedway. She retired in 2011 from S&D Coffee and Tea in Concord, N.C. Karen was both an avid Buffalo Bills and NASCAR fan and enjoyed camping at the races and get-togethers with family and friends, especially her "Race" family.
Surviving her are her husband of 53 years Charles T. McKinney, 2 daughters Vicki(Mike)Ferris of Silver Springs, NY, Cheryl(Jeff) Pire of Bessemer City, N.C., a son Brian(Christy) Mckinney of Taylorsville, N.C., 4 grandchildren: Samantha Ferris, Aaron Pire, Matthew Pire and Michael Pire; 2 great-grandchildren Zoey Pire and James Pire; a brother Norman(Linda) May of Hermitage, NY; A nephew David (Tanya) May; a niece Danielle(Mike) Compton and her special friend Joe Ridgewell of Canada.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday July 25th 2020 from 10 am until 12 pm at Weeks Funeral Home in Warsaw. Please visit www.weeksfuneral.com to offer condolences. Interment will be in the Warsaw Cemetery following the memorial service.
All are welcome to join us for a celebration of Karen's life which will take place at the Perry V.F.W from 2 to 6 pm following interment.
