Joyce Walton Welch, 97, Wyoming, NY. Peacefully, on April 5, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Born October 9, 1926 to Glenn and Pearl Walton of Bliss, N.Y. During the war years, her parents went to work in Buffalo for the effort while she remained with her grandmother to attend school in Bliss. She would often ride the train from Bliss to Buffalo on the weekend to see her parents. Having a fabulous memory, she delighted her family with stories from her childhood on her family's farm. She embraced all seasons of life, from raising her own seven children to watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren flourish and grow. She had a deep love for all animals, especially her beloved pets through the years but had a special place in her heart for her cats. She loved watching the Buffalo Bills win their games. She was an excellent cook. Her specialty was her famous Sunday dinner. Her family's favorites are her chocolate chip cookies, Yorkshire pudding and potato salad.
Joyce is survived by her children, Karen Fishkin of Ashburn, Virginia, Patrick (Susan) Welch of Wyoming, N.Y., Kyle (Debra) Welch of Wyoming, N.Y., Raymond (Marla) Welch of Wyoming, N.Y., Brian Welch of Wyoming, N.Y., Gerald (Maryellen) Welch of Wyoming, N.Y., Charles Welch of Wyoming, N.Y., 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Joyce is predeceased by her husband, Gerald Welch, her brothers Everett and Burnell Walton, son-in-law Lee Fishkin and great-granddaughter Caroline Welch.
A celebration of life will be planned by the family at a later date.
