Joyce M. Kent, age 82, of Milbury, MA, passed away Monday, December 18th, 2017 at the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing in Worcester, MA. She was born in Washington, D.C. November 3rd, 1935, daughter of the late Morton E. and Margaret Duffy Kent. A resident of MA since 1950, educated both in the United States as well as France, and 1958 graduate of Clark University in Worcester, Joyce worked as a school teacher at Memorial Junior High School in Grafton, MA where she taught English, French, and reading. She was a lifetime member of the MTA and NEA as well as being very active in many other educational based associations. Joyce was also a member of the International Honor Society for Women, was a producer and director for benefit shows for civic organizations across the country, and vice president of Kent Manufacturing Company Inc from 1958-67. In her younger years, Joyce became Washington's youngest portrait photographer; and at the age of 7, had a one man show in the Children's Museum. Joyce was trained in tap, ballet, toe, ballroom dancing, elocution, tennis, horse back riding, skating, ukulele, harp and piano. At age 12, Joyce composed a Christmas carol that was sung by Fred Waring and published in Collier's Magazine. She also taught first aid and water safety for the Red Cross and did Summer Stock.
