Joseph F. Bodekor age 82 of Rt. 20A Varysburg, died Tuesday, January 20th 2009 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Buffalo. He was born in Buffalo, May 27th 1926 the son of the late Henry and Julia Domon- Bodekor. A lifetime resident of the area and a self employed carpenter for over fifty years, he served in the US Navy during WWII on the Aircraft Carrier USS Ticonderoga. Joseph attended St. Joseph's Church in Varysburg, was hard working, creative and good with his hands. He enjoyed woodworking and raising horses. He was preceded in death on July 10th 2003 by his loving wife of 53 years Rosemary Stroh Bodekor, and 4 Brothers; Norman, Robert, Leon and Eugene. Survivors include 4 Sons; Paul Bodekor of Rochester, Joel (Nancy) Bodekor of North Java, Michael Bodekor of Orchard Park, Jeffery (Dorothy) Bodekor of Varysburg, a Daughter; Marie (Dan) Strollo of Livonia, a Brother; Donald (Betty) Bodekor of Marilla, a Sister Bernice Possinger of Wales, 7 Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends of Joseph F. Bodekor may call on Friday, Jan. 30th at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main St. Warsaw from 2-4 and 7-9pm. An American Legion Service will be held at the funeral home at 6:30pm and a vigil service will be held at 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph's in Varysburg, Sat. Jan. 31st at 10am. Full military honors will be rendered at the church following the Mass. Burial will be private in St. Michael's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the VA Med. Center in Batavia or the Varysburg Rescue Squad.
