Jesse L. Wilson, age 89, of East Street Gainesville, died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Friday, July 11th 2008 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw.
He was born in Lowell, Mass, on November 2nd 1918, the son of the late Louis A. and Anna M. (Niland) Wilson. Jesse lived in Gainesville since 1987 but most of his life was spent in West Seneca, NY. He was a 1937 graduate of Newton High School in Mass and went on to earn his BS in Chemistry from MIT in 1941. He retired from Colgate Plastics (formerly Cox Plastics) in 1987 after 34 years. Jesse became a member of the Methodist Church in 1934. He was an avid model railroader and loved mathematics. He enjoyed reading, amateur astronomy, raising fish in his aquariums, and the outdoors. He was a very kind, gentle and sweet man who will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by a Brother Allen Wilson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Carol (Schwab) Wilson, 2 Sons; Bruce (Annemarie Lorenzen) Wilson of Delran, NJ, and Peter Wilson of Gainesville. 2 Daughters; Barbara (Charles) Halvorsen, and Pamela (William) Lambert of Nebraska, 1 Brother; Bud (Louise) Wilson of Santa Maria, CA. 9 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Friends of Jesse L. Wilson may call on Wednesday, July 16th from 11am-1pm at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main Street Warsaw where services will be held at 1pm with the Reverend Gary Witte of the Castile United Church of Christ acting as celebrant.
