James A. "Curly" Penders, age 74 of Court Road, Pavilion passed away suddenly at home, Thursday, February 24 ^th 2022. Jim was born in Batavia, New York, September 5, 1947, a son of the late James H. and Leona Frisco Penders. Jim graduated from Pavilion High School in 1966 and went on to join the United States Army, serving two tours in Vietnam. After returning home, Jim drove tractor trailer (Long Haul) for J.D. Buckley & Son in Pavilion for 25 years and then Dale Root Trucking in Medina for an additional 25

years before retiring in 2014. Jim chose to continue serving for over twenty years in his local community by joining the Pavilion Fire Department and Rescue Squad. He was a terrific cook, known for his fried egg sandwiches and popcorn balls. A hard working and opinionated guy, Jim always found time for his beloved family and especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the American Legion, Botts Fiorito Post # 576 in LeRoy.

Jim was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children; Linda Doyle Penders in 1991, two brothers; Robert and Michael Penders, three sisters; Janet Shepard, Joyce Bratt, and Carol Hazlett.

Survivors include his wife of thirty years; Carolyn A. Rapone Penders whom he married on November 7, 1992, a daughter; Marie Penders of Missouri, a son; James (Melissa) Penders of Pavilion, a step son; Glen Wright of Pavilion, three step daughters; Rebecca (Frederick) Hirsch of Pavilion, Christina (Sean) Hale of North Carolina, Amanda Hopkins of East Bethany, three sisters; Denise (Robert) Meyers of Dansville, Donna (Jeff) Legg of North Carolina, Patricia Moncrief of Arizona, numerous grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

An American Legion Service will be conducted at 11am, March 4, 2022 at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main Street Warsaw where full honors will be conducted following the service.
