Obituary

James F. Michels, age 70, of Old Orchard Beach, Castile, passed away Tuesday, January 7th, 2014, at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw. He was born in Cheektowaga, October 12th, 1943, son of the late Herbert M. and Gertrude L. Reese Michels. A lifetime resident of Wyoming County, James worked as a finish carpenter for Broyhill Furniture in North Carolina and for General Marble in Hornell, NY. He attended the North Gainesville United Methodist Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing. James was a strong willed, but very dedicated and caring kind of guy who would not hesitate to give you the shirt off his back. He was predeceased by his first wife, Carole Ann Ross in 2002; 3 brothers, Robert, John and Arthur Michels; and a sister, Gertrude Christmas. Survivors include his wife Marcia J. Boyd Michels of Castile; a daughter, Tami (Jesse) Taylor of Marietta, GA; 3 sons, Joseph (Michele) Michels of Seattle, WA, Robert (Katrina) Michels of Marietta, GA, and Stephen (Cheryl) Michels of Gaffney, SC; 2 brothers, Herbert (Jean) Michels of Amherst and Walter (Victoria) Michels of Derby; a sister-in-law, Mary (James) Hutchison of Byron; 16 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the North Gainesville United Methodist Church 11am, Saturday, April 12th, 2014. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Silver Springs. Memorial contributions may be made to the Silver Springs Rescue Squad at PO Box 117 Silver Springs, NY 14550.
