Obituary

James E. Gardner, age 82, of Perry Ave., passed away Wednesday, December 10th, 2014 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris. He was born in Silver Springs, November 4th, 1932, son of the late Elmer and Luella Smith Gardner. A lifetime resident of Wyoming County, 1950 graduate of Letchworth Central School and graduate of Bryant & Stratton, Jim worked as a transportation representative at Morton Salt Co. for 42 years plus. He enjoyed collecting stamps and coins as well as golfing. Jim loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with family and friends. Jim was a member of the Silver Springs United Methodist Church where he was a former financial secretary, a member for many years of the former Silver Springs Kiwanis Club, Member of the Castile Masonic Lodge, charter member of the Silver Springs Rescue Squad, and a member and past secretary for many years of the Silver Springs Fire Department. He is survived by 2 daughters, Brenda Smith of Silver Springs and Bethany (Ronald) Klatt of Fillmore; 2 sons, Bradley Gardner of Strykersville and Bruce (Angel) Gardner of Perry; the mother of Jims children, Waneta Krauss; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Friends of Jim may call from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm Friday, December 12th, 2014 and 10am to 12pm Saturday, December 13th, 2014 at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main St. Warsaw. A fire department service will be held at the funeral home 7pm, Friday, December 12th with the Silver Springs Fire department. A funeral service will be held following calling hours at 12pm Saturday, December 13th with Pastor Bob Farnsworth of the Pike Community Church officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in Jims name to the Silver Springs Rescue Squad at PO Box 117 Silver Springs, NY 14550.
