Jacques C. Karr, age 83 passed away peacefully, Monday March 9 th 2020 at the Houghton Rehabilitation Center in Houghton, New York after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Jacques was born in Rochester, New York on June 30, 1936 to the late Edward S. Karejwa and Edna L. Bishop Karejwa.
Jacques grew up in Warsaw, New York and graduated from Warsaw Central School. He served four years in Korea with the United States Air Force. Jacques went on to college at the University of Rochester and then attended Rochester Institute of Technology. He retired from Eastman Kodak and moved to Florida to pursue all the things he loved to do. Jacques was an avid marathon runner and ran the New York City Marathon on November 4, 1990. He loved sailing, was a member of the Florida Trail Association, and the Space Coast Kayaking Club. His Summers were spent hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway, camping in Gatlinburg, Tennessee or sightseeing in Alaska.
He is survived by his childhood friend and wife; Deborah Howard Karr and four sons from a previous marriage; Dr. Jeffery (Kim) Karr, Shawn Karr, Dr. Brian (Tammy) Karr, Michael (Johanna) Karr, three step children; Thomas (Barb) Jett, Jacqueline (David) Irwin, David (Julie) Jett. Jacques enjoyed the company of his 7 grandchildren and 18 step grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Robin Karejwa who resides in Brunswick, GA and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers; Kristin and David Karejwa.
Jacques will be greatly missed by his wife of 20 years, his children and grandchildren.
