Jack R. Cooper, age 78 of Lamont Road, Castile died peacefully, Tuesday, July 14th 2009 at the Batavia Veterans Administration Medical Center. Jack was born in Muskegon, Michigan, October 10th 1929 the son of the late John and Harriet Cotton Cooper. He has lived in Castile since 1977 but previously Buffalo and Blairstown, NJ. He worked for Manor Oak Nursing Home in Warsaw for over 20 years as a maintenance supervisor. Jack served his country first with the Michigan Army National Guard from 1946-47 and in the Air Force from 1947-50. Jack was a longtime member of Castile Baptist Church and a graduate of Elohim Bible Institute. At the age of twelve, he started singing for Children's Bible Radio in Michigan. He carried this over to his adult life where he instilled this in his family and conveyed his faith through his music. Hobbies include woodworking, gardening and baking as he enjoyed working with his hands. He was predeceased by his loving Wife; June E. Ward Cooper in 1993, and two daughters; Diane Costello and Marilyn Merrill. Survivors include a son; David Cooper of Castile, 3 daughters; Roxane Flegel of Castile, Susane Nugent of LeRoy, and Jacquelyn (John F.) Copeland of Wethersfield, a sister; Kay (Bill) Lee of Michigan, 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews also survive. Friends of Jack Cooper may call on Thursday, July 16th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main St. Warsaw where funeral services with full military honors will be conducted on Friday, July 17th at 10 am with the Reverend Dr. Thomas Horner of Castile Baptist Church as celebrant.
