Harriet M. Adams, age 100, of Maple Avenue, Springville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, Wednesday, October 24th, 2017 at the Jennie B. Richmond Nursing Home. She was born in Clymer, NY, September 11th, 1917, daughter of the late George and Harriet Coons. A lifetime resident of Springville, Harriet worked as a cashier and in cosmetic sales at the Springville Rexall for over 40 years. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Springville, longtime bowler on the Rexallett's bowling team, and an avid bingo player. Harriet enjoyed traveling the world and would go anywhere on a moments notice. She loved entertaining and watching all the neighborhood kids and was a wonderful and loving woman who had no children of her own; but many referred to her as their "Aunt Harriet". Her fondest memories were summers spent with family at the cottage in Sunset Bay and fishing in Kippewa, Canada. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Adams, 2 brothers; Robert and Wilber Coons; 2 sisters, Dorothy Girst and Mildred Davis; a niece, Linda Kaczmarek; and an nephew, Robert Girst. Survivors include 2 nephews, Ronald (Mary) Coons of Springville and Robert Kaczmarek of Glenwood; a great niece, Deborah (Dr. Edward) Dickinson of Malvern, PA; 2 great nephews, Ronald (Donna) Kaczmarek of Etters, PA and Brian (Jennifer) Kaczmarek of Wyoming, NY; numerous great nephews, great nieces, terrific friends and neighbors. A special thanks goes out to her devoted caregivers and her neighbors, Dee and Bob Garlock for watching over her all these years. Friends of Harriet may call from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm Thursday, October 26th, 2017 at the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home 271 East Main St., Springville. A funeral service will be held 11am Friday, October 27th, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church, Springville with Pastor Kevin Costner officiating. Burial will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery, Springville.
