Gary K. Smith, age 78, of Private Drive 12 Perry, New York passed away peacefully, at home on the day of his predeceased granddaughters birth, April 16 ^th 2020, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Gary was born in Dolgeville, New York, July 17 ^th 1941, a son to the late Louise Grouden. Gary served honorably in the Unites States Army from 1960-1964 earning the rank of Sergeant. While in the Army Gary developed his skills as a professional truck driver. After returning from his service in Germany, Gary moved to Wyoming County and began work as a cement truck driver for Cipriano's and later B.R. Dewitt in Pavilion before retiring in 1984 to only begin anew with his own towing and plowing business "Smitty's Towing". For 35 years, Gary assisted his beloved wife with her ceramic and day care businesses. He enjoyed hunting and long rides in the country.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter; Meagan Lynn Springer, his sisters; Donna McClean and Dale Harper, his brothers Bernie Crossman and Bruce Smith, and a sister In-Law Diane Adair.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years; Linda J. Strathearn Smith, a daughter; Tammy (Michael) Sprenger of Port St. Lucie, Florida, 2 sons; Mark (Sara) Smith of Castile, Michael (Jennifer) Smith of Perry, a sister; Joyce Carden of Virginia Beach, 2 sisters In-Law; Carol Brown and Deborah (Richard) Copeland both of Wyoming, New York, a brother In-Law; Donald (Marion) Strathearn of Perry, 4 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. There are private services accompanied by military honors to follow along with the internment in the Grace Cemetery in Castile, NY. Weeks Funeral Home 123. N.
