Gary Philip Ewell, age 76, a lifelong resident of West Middlebury, NY died in Batavia on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. He was a son of the late Hermon Chaddock Ewell and Dorothy Lyness Ewell of West Middlebury. He graduated from the Wyoming Central School and SUNY at Albany matriculating in Business. Gary served in the U.S. Army. Upon discharge he worked as an insurance adjuster for Farm Family in Warsaw, NY. Later, he became manager of the claims department at the Batavia, NY Farm Family Insurance office.

Gary leaves a brother, Gordon and wife Dora (Missey) of West Middlebury; a nephew, Jeffrey Ewell of West Middlebury; a nephew, John Ewell and wife Erin of Cheektowaga, NY. Gary leaves a sister, Priscilla and husband Clyde Yerkes of Alva, FL; a nephew Brian Yerkes and wife Melissa of Ortonville, MI; a niece, Sharon and husband Harris Halverson of Tampa, FL. Gary's surviving relatives include his aunt, Anna Lyness Wells, a winter resident of Florida; his great nieces, Olivia and Sophie Yerkes of Ortonville, MI; great niece Paige Halvorsen and great nephew Blake Halvorsen of Tampa, FL.

According to Gary's wishes there will not be calling hours or funeral services. Cremation, with private burial will follow in West Middlebury Cemetery.
