Gary L. "Ace" Carlsen, age 72, of Dale Rd. passed away Thursday, June 18th, 2015 at the Leo Center for Caring in Rochester. He was born in Sardinia, December 24th, 1942, son of the late Robert and Dorothy Brown Carlsen. A lifetime resident of Wyoming County, Ace worked as a diesel mechanic for the Wyoming School District and in propane delivery for Seimax in LeRoy, from where he retired in 1999. In his free time, Ace was a gentleman farmer, raising cows, horses, pigs and chickens. He was a dedicated, hardworking, proud and spiritual man who will be remembered fondly as the great father he was. Ace would regularly donate food from his farm to the local food pantry to help those in need. He served his country honorably as a jet mechanic with the United States Marine Corp. during Vietnam. Ace was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen E. Butters Carlsen on April 25th, 2000 and by a brother, Duane Carlsen. Survivors include his loving friend and companion, Carol Leah Smith of Dale; 2 sons, Eric (Rebecca) Carlsen of Oakfield and Shane (Stephanie) Carlsen of Corfu; a brother, Robert "Sonny" (Grace) Carlsen of Stafford; 5 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends of Ace may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm, Monday, June 22nd, 2015 at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main St. Warsaw. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home 10am Tuesday, June 23rd, where military honors will be rendered. Burial will take place privately in the Dale Cemetery, Dale.
