Fred G. Bliss, age 74, of Martinville Rd., passed away Thursday, January 12th, 2012 at the Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born in Centerville, New York, October 7th, 1937, the son of the late Harold M. and Mildred E. White Bliss. A lifetime resident of Wyoming County, Fred retired as a mechanic for B.R. Dewitt in Pavilion and carried on to drive truck in various forms throughout Wyoming County. He was a member of Warsaw Moose Lodge #560, member of the Northeast Region of the North South Skirmish Association (N-SSA), and Commander of the 19th New York Volunteer Light Artillery Battery. Fred enjoyed traveling the country with Ellen and his daughter for various N-SSA events. He is survived by his loving companion for 32 years, Ellen Whitmore; 2 daughters, Louise Traver of Church Hill, TN and Lisa (Bud Shaw) Bliss of Alfred Station; 3 sisters, Laura (Harold) Shoemaker of Clifton Springs, Christine (Mitchell) Jones of Houghton and Ernestine Jones of Virginia; 2 brothers, Raymond (Linda) Bliss of Warsaw and LaVern Bliss of Houghton, 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends of Fred may call from 10am to noon, Tuesday, January 17th, 2012 at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main Street, Warsaw. A funeral service will be held following visitation at noon with Pastor Lauren Turner as celebrant. Burial will take place privately in the Quaker Settlement Cemetery, Orangeville.
