Francis (Frank) Fitzmaurice of Brooklyn street Warsaw, died peacefully, Monday, Nov. 16th, 2009, surrounded by his loving family, at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility. Frank was born October 11th, 1924 in South Buffalo, New York, the son of the late Frank G. and Margaret Burke Fitzmaurice. Enlisting in the United States Army in 1943, Frank served with the 1015 Engineer Battalion on the Central European front until 1945. He re-entered the Army in 1946 with his brother and served as part of the occupational forces in Japan. Frank had obtained the rank of T-5 with the Corps of Engineers and upon his honorable discharge, was awarded the American Campaign Medal, the EAME Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Frank worked as a machinist at Mallory Timers in Warsaw for 35 years from where he retired. He was a longtime member of the Warsaw Moose Lodge #560, the Wyoming Co. Veterans Club, Post #734 of the American Legion in Attica and Warsaw Post #4823 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Frank enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and watching the Buffalo Bills play. He enjoyed life to its fullest. In the Irish tradition, Frank was a great story teller and had the gift of great laughter. He is predeceased by his wife Carol Jean Sullivan, 5 brothers; Donald, Kevin, Emmett, James and Edwin and 1 sister, Irene Alguire. Survivors include 1 daughter, Patricia (Patsy) M. Fitzmaurice of Delmar, NY; 2 grand daughters, Caitlin and Allison Schreffler of Delmar, NY; 1 great grandson, Jacob McIntire of Delmar, NY, his loving companion, Marvis Luczak of Silver Springs, a sister; Geraldine Dobstaff of West Seneca, as well as several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Thursday, November 19th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm at the Weeks Funeral Home, 123 N. Main Street, Warsaw. An American Legion Service will be conducted at 6:45pm and a Catholic Vigil service will follow at 7pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am Friday, November 20th at St. Michaels Church in Warsaw with Father James Hartwell as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Perry. Memorials may be made to the Wyoming County Hospice.
